A Youth Confronts Her Drinking Pals To Learn More About Alcohol Abuse and Alcohol Addiction

Diane drank on a usual basis with her drinking pals. One Monday after all of her classes were finished, she began thinking about the amount of alcohol she drank and the excessive drinking of her buddies. As a result of this, she respectfully asked all of her buddies the following question: “what do we really know about binge drinking, alcohol abuse, alcohol poisoning, and alcoholism? That is to say, how much alcoholism and alcohol abuse information do we really know? For our age, we certainly drink a great deal and I am really beginning to wonder if all of us are headed for a life filled with alcohol-related difficulties down the road.

I think that we should go on the Internet and learn all we can about alcohol poisoning, binge drinking, alcohol abuse, and alcoholism. And then if we have any issues that we can’t comprehend after we conclude our online research, we can walk to the student health center at the college and ask Nurse Vincent to help us understand what we don’t know.”

It Shouldn’t Come as a Big Shock That What Diane Articulated Would Instigate a Heated Discussion

It shouldn’t come as a big shock that what Diane said would set off a heated discussion. As a case in point, her best friend since the tenth grade, Sherlyn, articulated that they are too young and too healthy to be worried about abusive and irresponsible drinking. Another pal named Randy figured that since most high school students drink there’s no commonsensical reason why they should be any different. Another friend named Adalyn said that all she wants to do is to have fun drinking with her friends. And still another drinking buddy named Shaun in point of fact agreed with Diane essentially because both of his parents abused alcohol and both of his parents had a history of alcohol related issues.

Diane openly mentioned to her classmates that she “got” everything that they had said but that getting involved in excessive and hazardous drinking at such a susceptible age in reality can’t be very healthy or something that contributes toward developing a meaningful life. When a few of her drinking pals asked what kind of alcohol difficulties Diane was discussing, Diane stated the following: alcohol-related diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and cirrhosis of the liver and other alcohol-related problems like alcohol poisoning (which can be fatal in some instances), alcoholism, and alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities.

Irresponsible and Abusive Drinking Typically Results in Drinking Problems

When Diane then highlighted the fact that irresponsible and excessive drinking regularly results in financial, relationship, legal, and school problems, some of her friends finally began to comprehend how widespread and how unhealthy excessive and irresponsible drinking can be. Undeniably some of her drinking friends opened up and started to reveal how these alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse effects had affected some of their friends and their parents.

After highlighting some of the alcoholism and alcohol abuse problems that are related to excessive and abusive drinking, most of her friends seemed to agree to the idea about getting information on the web. They were, conversely, nervous about discussing their drinking circumstances with any of the teachers at school. As Diane heard this she thought to herself, “at least they are willing to find out more about their careless and hazardous drinking. This is a good start.”
