An All Natural Herbs Detox

All_Natural_herbs_detoxEvery day different chemical compounds, toxins, and harmful substances called free radicals attack our bodies. Using natural herbs to detox these free radicals goes back centuries and can still be used today.

An all natural herbs detox has to consist of some key Ingredient herbs that I have listed for your reference and most can be bought for under $10.

  • HORSETAIL (Equisetum) used as a dried herb has been used as far back as early Rome as an ancient Roman and Greek medicine and was used traditionally to stop bleeding, heal ulcers and wounds, and treat urinary tract infections, kidney stones, bladder stones and tuberculosis. It has been found to be excellent anti-oxidant and because it is extremely rich in trace minerals it improves the healing of bones, flesh, and cartilage. The name Equisetum is derived from the Latin root equus, meaning “horse,” and seta, meaning, “bristle.”
  • MILK THISTLE (SILYMARIN) have been used by herbalists for over 2000 years to treat chronic liver disease and protect the liver against toxins. It helps the liver by improving the stimulation of protein synthesis. It also protects the liver from Hepatotoxicity (Chemicals causing liver damage) including drugs, alcohol, and a wide variety of chemicals. It is considered to be a major natural antioxidant.
  • PSYLLIUM HUSKS is a mucilaginous fiber meaning it expands when wet and is used in popular laxative products such as Metamucil and most colon cleanse products. The mucilage in the seeds can actually expand from eight to fourteen times the size of the original seeds, which create a feeling of fullness, decreasing your appetite, which in turn helps you lose weight. Psyllium fiber works like a snowplow pushing all the toxins and parasites from the gastrointestinal tract. It is very important to drink lots of water while using psyllium as a cleansing agent!
  • CASCARA-SAGRADA is a natural mild laxative used by various Native American Indian tribes originally. It contains hydroxyanthraquinone glycosides called cascarosides that induces the large intestine to increase its muscular contraction (peristalsis), then causing a bowel movement. It treats constipation and as you know frequent bowl movement are important when trying to rid the body of harmful toxins.

  • DANDELION ROOT have many great benefits but for body detox sake they are used to cleanse the liver and gull bladder of toxins. It helps to increase the manufacture of bile in the liver, which then tackle all the toxins brought through the body. Clinical studies have shown that dandelion root will also maximize the performance of the pancreas, kidneys, spleen, and stomach. Herbalist often recommend toasted dandelion root as a healthier alternative to coffee, which should be avoided during detoxification or cleansing.
  • BLACK WALNUT HULLS extract has been used for centuries to help control and eliminate parasites from the body. Harvesting the green hulls, which surround the nut, are then made into and extract that is usually taken by a few drops under the tongue or swallowed directly.
  • NETTLES have some really great detoxification properties. Although there are a large number of species pf Nettles, some with a bad reputation of stinging, some actually have been used as a folk remedy for centuries as a cleansing agent for the urinary system.
  • Hibiscus flower is a colorful flower traditionally worn by Tahitian women and was found to have antibacterial properties. It is now used mainly as an ingredient of herbal detox tea.
  • LICORICE ROOT is available in dried and powdered forms and is taken orally as a tablet, capsule, or liquid extracts. Although it was mainly used in ancient times and still to this day to help heal ulcers it has been found to be a mild laxative. Licorice has also been used sooth an upset stomach and irritable bowel syndrome because of the antispasmodic abilities in the bowels.
  • BURDOCK ROOT although pesky plants in the yard are considered to by Folk herbalists to be a very powerful detoxifying herb by reducing the build up of heavy metals in the bodies system. It does a great job at removing toxins from the blood stream but also increases urination thus flushing those toxins from the body
  • ALFALFA has been used for over 1500 years as an herbal medication because it is high in various vitamins like vitamin A, B group vitamins, vitamins C, D, E and K. It also has key minerals such as calcium and protein. Alfalfa assists with digestion and is a natural diuretic and laxative because it is an excellent source of fiber and can reduce or lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels. It has since been recognized and an excellent antioxidant.
  • CASCARA-SAGRADA was originally used as a natural laxative by Native Americans centuries ago and is now used to help with treatment for chronic constipation. It contains organic compounds called anthraquinones (cascarosides A and B), which are transformed, by intestinal bacteria into substances that stimulate the muscles in the large intestine and colon to assist the digestive track for a quick-acting laxative effect. I would not use it for herbal teas as it has a very bitter taste and you won’t enjoy it.
  • OATSTRAW contains various vitamins like vitamin A, vitamin B complex and vitamin C but is also high in rich in calcium and magnesium. Mainly used for bone health it can also assist with a with a good night sleep which is important while Detoxing the body.
  • PUMPKIN SEEDS are not only used as a treat during Halloween they are also a good source of fiber and protein. They help cleanse the two major types of intestinal parasites, helminths and protozoa from the body. Always use an additional laxative like Psyllium seed to help push the pumpkin seeds through the digestive track.
  • GOLDENSEAL was used by Native American centuries ago. Although it is very bitter it is a natural laxative that aids in digestion and is often used to treat gastritis and chronic constipation just to name a few. Women should avoid goldenseal during pregnancy and lactation and prolong used will reduce the bodies absorption of vitamin B.
  • YUCCA ROOT is high in vitamins A, B, and C, and contains key minerals such as potassium, calcium, phosphorus, iron, manganese and copper, which make it very soothing to the intestinal tract as a laxative agent. Yucca Root assist with digestion and is a liver, blood, and digestive system detoxifier and helps break down organic waste in the body.
  • Gentian root is used to assist in liver detox by the stimulation of bile production by the liver cleansing and cleaning it. It can be used in many herbal preparations to help with most digestive problems by helping break down proteins and fats. It even helps improve the assimilation (conversion of nutrient into the fluid or solid substance of the body, by the processes of digestion and absorption) of nutrients like iron and vitamin B12.

  • MARSHMALLOW ROOT is high in calcium, magnesium and selenium to help the body eliminate toxins while enhancing the immune system. Marshmallow root has primarily been used as a traditional herbal soothing agent for conditions of the respiratory and digestive tracts. Note that it may interfere with blood sugar lowering medications.
  • SLIPPERY ELM BARK is an excellent solution to irritable bowel syndrome as it posses an ant inflammatory agent that soothing irritated tissues of the gastrointestinal tract. It is one of the most digestible substances known and should be part of any Bowel Detox formula.
  • Violet leaf is a detox herb used as a laxative mainly but does have blood-cleansing properties. As a laxative it help cleanse the digestive tract of harmful toxins. It is safe and soothing, rich in beta-carotene and vitamin C.
  • Witch hazel bark is high in flavonoids, which are excellent antioxidants for the human body. It is often used as an ingredient for a detox tea but can be used on it’s own to help with the treatment of piles. It is a good painkiller and useful for bruises and inflammatory swellings, also for diarrhea.
  • CAYENNE PEPPER Capsicum is another natural antioxidant and has many different healing powers. It can rebuild the tissue in the stomach and stimulate the digestive track including the intestines, colon and bowls. The pepper helps improve metabolism leading to weight loss and more energy. Although it can be a bit zippy (hot) it is a very important herb for detoxification.

Many of these natural herbs to detox are currently found in most detox teas or colon cleanse products today and will certainly help you feel better. Keep in mind that many of these herbs have more uses then just, laxative, antioxidants and body detox properties and your body will certainly feel the difference.
