Parents Beware Substance Abuse Could Be In Your Home
I am one of the many who has been affected by a loved one who suffered from a substance abuse disorder, and like most people that abuse substances, I was blissfully unaware for a very long time it was going on around me.
Also teenagers today are being exposed to differnt types of drungs at a far younger age through television and the media not to mention their own schools. I wish I could show them before after meth pictures of people who abuse drungs, this might help discourage them.
Drugs, alcohol and sex are not subjects that are regarded as out of bounds at that age these days in the way that they used to be 10-15 years ago when we were younger. Also there is the usual experimentation that happens at that age anyway, you now have kids of 10 trying drugs and alcohol just to try to fit in. The problem is that at that age, you just don’t have the maturity to deal with that and so it will create problems both socially and health wise.
It is impossible however to pin the increase in teen drug and alcohol addiction to any single factor. There are just so many different variables that may play a role.
With peer pressure added to the mix of being exposed to more at a much earlier age (not forgetting the experimentation that tends to go on anyway) – you definitely have a significant reason for the increase in teenage addiction. Peer pressure especially, which results in you doing loads of stupid stuff anyway, plays a huge role in influencing your behaviour at that age.
I also wonder if parenting skills today are what they used to be, which will also no doubt be a major reason? You have more single parent families, both parents working (and longer hours), divorce rates higher than ever – of course all that affects kids. Coupled with the insecurity that teenagers experience anyway, using drugs and alcohol then becomes an easy way to deal with everything.
* Evaluating the right treatment where the best program is decided for the addict. There is a wide range of intervention treatment services made by drug rehab, such as in-patient, out-patient and different medical services.
* Intervention and treatment where the patient is counseled to get agree for the treatment.
* Making available post-intervention services where it is assured that the drug addicted person does not get into the habit again.
